A simple guide to help you feel prepared before your GVM Baby World visit.

A private ultrasound visit can be an exciting part of pregnancy. GVM Baby World focuses on private, non-diagnostic ultrasound experiences designed for bonding, keepsake imaging and sharing the moment with your family. This guide explains what to expect before, during and after your visit so you can arrive prepared and know how the experience works.

GVM Baby World does not provide diagnostic ultrasound or replace prenatal medical care. Continue all medically recommended appointments, testing and diagnostic imaging with your doctor, midwife or other regulated healthcare provider.

Before Your Appointment

Start by reviewing the service or package you selected so you know what is included. Different visits may focus on early pregnancy viewing, early gender determination, baby heartbeat, or 3D, 4D and 5D imaging.

You can compare current options on our ultrasound pricing page and review our ultrasound services before your visit.

Follow Your Preparation Instructions

Follow the preparation instructions provided with your appointment. For certain private ultrasound visits, GVM Baby World may ask you to arrive with a full bladder. Wearing comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your abdomen can also make the visit easier.

If you are unsure about your preparation instructions, contact GVM Baby World before your appointment rather than relying on general advice found online.

When You Arrive

Arrival instructions can vary by location, so follow the directions provided for your appointment. Allow enough time to arrive calmly and be ready for your scheduled visit.

GVM Baby World serves families at studios in Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, Caledonia and Kitchener, with each location also serving surrounding communities. Visit our locations page for the current studio addresses and location information.

What Happens During the Ultrasound?

Your private ultrasound is performed abdominally. Ultrasound gel is applied to the abdomen and the ultrasound probe is moved across the area to obtain images and live views of your baby.

The type of view used during the session depends on the service you selected and the available image. A visit may use 2D, 3D, 4D or 5D imaging modes. For a plain-language explanation of these imaging options, read our 3D, 4D & 5D Ultrasound Guide.

What Might You See?

Every pregnancy and every visit is different. Depending on your baby’s position and the available view, you may see the face, hands, feet, body position or movement. Some visits may provide clear facial views, while other visits may be more limited.

Image quality cannot be guaranteed. Your baby’s position, movement, placenta, surrounding structures and other individual pregnancy factors can all affect what can be seen during the session.

What If Your Baby Is Hiding?

Babies do not always cooperate with the view families hope to see. A baby may face away, cover the face with hands or feet, or remain in a position that limits a clear image.

Repeat-session provisions vary by service and package. Check the current pricing and package details for the option you selected rather than assuming a repeat visit is included.

What Happens After the Visit?

What you receive after the session depends on the service or package selected. Current options may include images, video or other keepsake items. Review the package details before your appointment so you know what is included with your visit.
